Please evaluate my profile

Hi,

- 27, female, from Pakistan
- Small, private, mid-west liberal arts college. Overall GPA: 3.6; GPA in Major (Accounting/Finance): 4.0
- Worked 4 years at Merrill Lynch (Middle office - Loan Portfolio)
- Moved back to Pakistan 2.5 months ago (by choice - NOT because I got laid off) to give back to my country by working in the financial sector - applying what I've learned at Merrill. (Choosing to work between a position as an RM at RBS and an Associate at a small Business Advisory firm headquartered in HongKong)
- Have done volunteer work in Brazil, Thailand, US and also doing volunteer work on the side over here.
- GMAT: 640 (first try) - will take it again if my profile is competitive

Any advice?

Thanks

Thank you for your inquiry.

While you are a female international candidate with exposure to the US (which can be important during tough economic times when schools worry about placing internationals in the U.S.), your GMAT score could be prohibitively low for a top-school in an ultra-competitive year. You should retake the GMAT if you are aiming for top-15 schools. You certainly have nothing to lose...

Sincerely,
Jeremy Shinewald
