Can someone please help me with this question from GMATprep? Specially why option B and A are wrong. Thanks

Personal trainers and fitness coaches are to the narcissistic 1980's just like a private fencing master and dancing teacher was to an earlier time.

Is this problem really from the official software? If so, I'm nonplussed; the snarky tone of the sentence (e.g., "the narcissistic 1980's") is completely out of character for an official problem.
