all over the news, it is understood that full time mba app's are up and competition is stronger than ever. what is your opinion on top tier part time programs, do you think this year's application process will be more competitive in this marketplace or less? thanks

It's hard to say.

First, full-time applications aren't up significantly from last year actually - it was expected to surge but the word from the adcoms is that it is flat to slightly up at best thus far.

As for part-time, my hunch is that it will be flat to slightly down -- in this kind of economy, people are trying to save as much money as possible (and their jobs too). Folks may want to "upgrade" their skills, but whether they're willing to spend gobs of money to do so is debatable - some will, some won't in this economy.

Hello:

I am trying to decide to apply to b-school on a part-time vs. full-time basis. My main motivation for going to school is to make a career change (from financial services to marketing/brand management). Is it then unrealistic to pursue an mba on a part time basis?

If switching careers is a viable option via a part-time program, are there any programs in particular that would best suit this aspiration (i.e. Langone Part-time MBA program)?

Thanks.
Matt
