Parallelism - Is "although" a parallelism marker

Hi,
In the 6th edition of Manhattan prep SC book page 91 problem set question 2:
"Although we were sitting in the bleachers, the baseball game was as exciting to us as to the people sitting behind home plate. "
The answer shows the word "although" is a parallel marker. Could anyone explain whether "although" is a parallel marker and how it works?
