see, the problem with the green things is that they aren't actually things. they are pure abstractions. if you truly understand a CR problem, you should be able to say all these things in concrete, SPECIFIC terms.

in other words, you should be able to fill in this blank...
We're looking for a reason why ______________________
...using words that a 10-year-old could understand (= WITHOUT using 'weaken', 'conclusion', 'function', or any other such abstraction).
in other words, the blank should be filled in with 'xxxxx oxygen xxxxx muscles xxxxxx xxxxx xxxx'. it should be SPECIFIC.

if you can successfully TRANSLATE the task INTO SPECIFICS, you'll find that...
...it's obvious why the correct answer is correct,
...it's obvious why the incorrect answers are incorrect,
...the wrong answers are all COMPLETELY wrong (for MAJOR reasons),
...the logic is not 'complicated'.

what goes in the blank?

'effective' is still a word that a 10-year-old will not understand.

you need to get 'effective' out of there and replace it with CONCRETE SPECIFICS. once you do that, it should be plain why the correct answer is correct (and why all the incorrect answers are incorrect0.

...in fact, it doesn't seem that you read what i actually wrote above:

in other words, the blank should be filled in with 'xxxxx oxygen xxxxx muscles xxxxxx xxxxx xxxx'. it should be SPECIFIC

^^ not kidding!
you should actually fill in the blank with stuff that contains the words 'oxygen' and 'muscles' (and 'drink').

'effective' is still too vague. get it out of there, and actually use the words i mentioned.

why do YOU think that D ISN'T wrong?

analogy:
If I were taller, I'd be a better basketball player.

choice D is like pointing out that other things—strength, conditioning, physical coordination, practice, etc.—also contribute to being good at basketball.
but, even if you point out those other factors, that certainly doesn't defeat the idea that being taller would make me a better player!

same thing here.
