OG - VICs D24, pg. 23

Although i recall solving this problem, and getting right and not "doing the algebra" i misplaced my notes, and cannot for the life of me figure it out now.

Is there another way vic/plugging numbers of solving this problem w/o doing the algebra as shown in the OG guide. It sort of defeats the purpose of learning the VIC strategy.
