OG 2016

by InesP258 Tue Feb 16, 2016 11:27 am

Hi,

I've just started reading the MGMAT roadmap book and I'm seeing how practicing OG problems are a must. Does the official guide come with the mgmat strategy guides or do we have to buy it separately?

Thanks a lot!

The Official Guide is published by GMAC, the makers / owners of the GMAT (ie, it's a separate book from a separate organization / we don't make them).

We do sell bundles of books that include OGs - so you can buy a bundle of books that includes both our strategy guides and the OGs. But, yes, you would have to specifically choose to order / pay more to include these other books.

Good luck with your studies!

Is the OG 2016 compatible with MGMAT Strategy Guides 6th editions ??

Yes. We used to print the OG problem sets at the back of our strategy guides. Now that GMAC is publishing a new version of the OGs every year, we make an electronic doc (a PDF) that you can download, depending upon which version of the OG you have.

(Note for others reading this: we don't make this PDF public. It's for our students - people taking classes or people who bought books, etc. Sorry! But it does cost us money to develop these resources. :)

Also FYI: I've heard that the next version of the OGs (2017) is slated to be released on May 30th. Amazon is currently saying June 7th. Don't know exactly which date, but in that timeframe. About 15% of the questions will be new.

Do you need all three books of the OG?

Not necessarily. In our classes, everybody gets / uses the big OG. If a particular student needs more practice, then I might recommend that they get the two smaller OGs (or possibly one of the other GMAC resources - depends on the student's situation). But the big OG already contains ~900 questions - for most people, that's enough (along with other material that they're using, of course).

I'd start with just the big one and then see later whether you want more.
