I was trying to figure out why the explanation says to use 4ft as the height when it clearly states in the question that the height of the volume of the water in the cylinder is 2ft.
given data:
V = 36(pi) half the total volume
water height in the cylinder when standing upright = 2 ft which is at half of the total volume
so wouldnt it be V= R*R*pi*h = 36pi
--> 36 = R*R*(2) (pis cancel out)
--> 18 = R*R
--> R = 3*(square root of 2)?
Why is the answer 3!!?
Should it be 72pi for a total volume if you are going to use the height of 4 ft??
Please help!
