NYU Stern Part time Program Candidate

I am looking to attend NYU Stern Part Time and would like to know my chances.

Male
4 years of work experience by July 2011
International work experience.
GMAT : 700
GPA 3.2 from large State School

Work: For the worlds largest recycling company. Expereience in international business, export, shipping/logistics, international credit, operations management

Exta Currics: Member of Net Impact, various volunteer oppourtunities, play in several basketball leagues, traveling.

Recommendations: Former boss and current boss (both will be very good)

MBA Goals: Consulting, Sustainable Business, Corporate Social Responsibility

Target Schools: NYU STERN PART TIME.

Ive heard its easier to get into NYU PART TIME over full time is this correct? Does the part time program have lower standards?

Kindly advice and evaluate my candidacy. I am planning to start my application process as soon as possible.

Hi Acatlaw,

Thanks for writing in. I don't think it's fair to say the part-time Stern program has lower standards, but it does attract a different candidate profile than the full-time version, and thus the makeup will be different. Successful part-time candidates need to show not only why they are seeking an MBA, but why it makes sense for them to do it on a part-time basis.

For example, if you are hoping the program helps you advance in your current job, then part-time makes sense. But if you are planning a full career change, then you'll have to explain why you want to go part-time.

Based on the information you provided your candidacy seems competitive, but in order to win over admissions you'll want to clearly answer the "Why MBA/Why Part-time" question in your essay.
