NYU Part time Spring 2012

by f1champ Thu Sep 01, 2011 10:33 am

Hi,

I recently took my GMAT and performed very poorly in verbal in spite of using MGMAT SC and CR guides. I somehow lost track of time and ran out of time for the last 10-12 questions (I suspect I was doing well in the 1st half of the test as I was getting very hard questions) and essentially had 20-30 seconds for the last 10-12 questions.
I got a 48 in quant and 28 in verbal with a grand total of 620. The lowest verbal scored I ever had was 29 and averaged 34 in verbal (MGMAT and Official GMAT Prep tests).
I have a 3.2 gpa in engineering (average school) and I have worked at front office positions at reputed firms (Morgan Stanley, UBS, etc).
Should I bother applying for the part time MBA at NYU with a low GMAT?

Thanks,

Hi f1Champ,

Sorry to hear about your GMAT struggles. While the NYU part-time program may not emphasize GMAT as much as its full-time counterpart, I am concerned that your Verbal and overall may be a bit too low. Since you think it was an issue of bad pacing, perhaps you can take the test one more time and still be able to get your materials in on time.

Best of luck,

Hi F1Champ,

I am in the same boat as you. Did you apply for NYU parttime? I am in same delimma. The score is not high but not sure if it is too low. I have 9 years of experience and working for top investment banks for last 7 years.

Let me know if you heard from anyone else and if you ended up applying.

Cheers
