It looks like you're trying to extract rather abstract rules. I'd deal with these situations one by one as they come up in your studying. Thinking of everything in terms of 'reinforcing' or 'not reinforcing' seems to me rather Procrustean. I'm not sure what it means when applied to some of these constructions.

With parallel constructions, considering if things are going in the same direction, or are contrasting each other seems to be more appropriate. To decide, make some examples yourself and consider the meaning.

In any case, you list some incorrect constructions: either x and y; both x or y; between x, y, and z.
