If anyone is in this situation, I do think it's a good idea to call Pearson directly and ask them what to do before you sign up for the test. No reason to make things more stressful for yourself.
Mohit, I think things will be easier for you in the US if you do have a surname. You would want that to be on your official papers (visa, driver's license, etc), though, so that would be something you'd need to do in your home country. Is there a surname that you would like to have and could you go through the necessary legal channels to add it to your name? That way, you will be able to choose your own name instead of having to use FNU Mohit. :)
