Need some advice

by ranjani.ramachandran Wed May 23, 2012 2:14 am

Hi, fairly new on the forums so would appreciate any advice/words of wisdom.

I took the GMAT today and scored a 710 (Q-50, V36). Quant - 92 percentile, Verbal - 79 percentile and overall 92 percentile.
My background - Indian female, 9 years experience in high-tech. Working as a Business Analyst at a major networking company for the last 5 years.

Targeting part time MBA at schools - Haas, UCLA Anderson, USC Marshall
Want to understand if my score if fine or whether I should consider retaking the GMAT. I understand that GMAT score is just 1 aspect and my essays, recommendation and work profile also play an important role.

Thanks in advance

Hi! I think a 710 with a high quant puts you in a competitive position for the schools that you are targeting. Of course, the AdCom will look at your entire profile in their assessment of your candidacy. That means to make sure you highlight your professional accomplishments and extra-curricular activities, as well as submit strong letters of recommendation.

Best of luck,

Rachel Beck
