Need professional feedback on my profile

by chagarwa Tue Dec 23, 2008 6:55 am

Hi,

Would like some professional feedback on my chances of admission to a top MBA school for 1 year MBA course.

Some general information about myself:
Nationality: Indian
Work experience: Total of 4 yrs working with an Indian IT firm(TCS) as a software developer.
Last 2 years of which were spent at working in US for Client Citigroup.
Education: Graduated from IP University in New Delhi with Engineering degree(B. Tech)
Age: 27
Gender: Male
GMAT score: 670 (just took the test on Nov 24th this year)

I was considering IMD, INSEAD, ISB or NUS or other top schools that offer 1 year MBA. I am even open to a 2yr course in a top university if I could get admitted for the course of 2009.
Would a higher GMAT score improve my chances at admissions into these schools? It is my first attempt and I might be able to get to 700-710 range with some luck. However, I've already missed quite a few deadlines and is it more realistic to look at applying next year?

Thanks
Chirag

If you can improve it easily by 40+ points, it may be worth retaking but if the prep time takes serious time away from your essays, you should stick with your score. Especially with INSEAD and IMD, it will still come down to how well you execute the application moreso than your GMAT score.

As for waiting until next year or applying this year, that's only something you can decide.
