My Chances to top 5 schools for EMBA program

by Sony123 Thu May 15, 2008 11:00 am

My GMAT score was 710. Verbal 36(80 percentile); Quant: 50; AWA:5.

My profile:
********
32 year old Indian female
US greencard holder
Married, 2 kids
Fulltime job in IT. 9 years of experience.
B.S in electrical engineering From India(Distinction, I dont know how to calculate GPA)
Masters in electrical engineering from IIT (Top school in India).

Is my verbal score too low for Executive MBA prgram from top schools(I am aiming at wharton). should I retake the exam. I want to maximize my chances of getting into a top school as much as possible.

I never got below 40 in any of the diagnostic tests. so, the verbal score was little disappointing to me.

I appreciate your response.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Generally, EMBAs focus more on your work experience, recommendations and commitment from your firm and indeed yourself (they want to be sure you won’t drop the program) and less on stats - at least compared to typical MBA programs. Please tell me more about your career - promotions, number of people you manage, etc. Do you have any leadership outside of work?

Sincerely,
Jeremy Shinewald
