I have a conceptual question on modifiers that I would like to clear up for myself. I read in the MGMAT SC book that a noun and a modifier should touch each other. I am confused when there is a prepositional phrase right between the subject and modifier.
For example,
I am flying the plane in the air, which can fly 200 mph.
I am confused if I can ignore "in the air". I was just thinking that I should eliminate the middleman and therefore this sentence would be correct since "which can fly 200 mph" would then correctly modify "the plane". Am I correct in my thinking?
