Mission critical modifier vs noun modifier

by abhap1 Tue Mar 17, 2015 2:40 pm

Hello,

I have a doubt in a concept.
On what basis I should chose a singular or plural verb in the below case:

Vaibhav is one of my friends who eat/eats my ice-cream.

Tommy is one of my dogs that was/were bought from shop.

Here if I take that for dogs then verb will be plural, but if I take that for one of my friends(mission critical) then verb will be was.

Please solve my query and correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks

if you see this distinction on the exam, one interpretation will make sense, and the other will be nonsense. so, this issue will not exist.
