MGMAT score vs. real GMAT

by jamingo Thu Oct 11, 2007 11:56 am

Hi!
I am a user of your MGMAT online CAT and my scores range from 680 to 710.
Recently, I saw so many students scoring in this range and ending up with 640/650 on the real thing. I know that you have a SD of 40/50 point, but I did not see anyone scoring more than their MGMAT score.

How can you explain that?

For your info my scores are:

-MGMAT Online test 1: 710 (Q48, V38) Date 27/08 I paused on some Q questions
- CAT GMAT Powerprep 1: 700 (Q47, V38) Date 10/11 Q made 2 silly errors in the first 10 questions. Verbal had around 5 or 6 questions from OG and 1 familiar RC text
- MGMAT Online test 2: 700 (Q46, V39) Date 15/09 No pause on Q this time => Verbal increased by 1 point!
- GMAT Prep 1: 650 (Q45, V35) Date 16/09 ....I took the Q again and scored 49 moving my total score to 690.
- MGMAT Online test 3: 670 (Q45, V36) Date 22/09 First test with AWA issue....disapointed but need to keep the hard work. MGMAT showed that I still can progress in RC
MGMAT Online test 4: 710 (Q48, V39) Date 29/09 pause on Q this time - (Q is too much time consuming on MGMAT)
- CAT GMAT Powerprep 2: 760 (Q51, V40) Date 03/10 Q made 0 errors and I detected only 1 question from OG. Verbal score is not relevant since too many questions were repeated from OG.
MGMAT Online test 5: 680 (Q49 V34) Date 7/10

You're getting this data from people who are still studying for the test - people frequent online GMAT forums because they are still studying. People who score better than the 680-710 range are extremely unlikely to take the test again. In other words, the limited data you've gathered is skewed towards one end of the spectrum.
