MGMAT Calculator on CAT vs. Actual Calculator

by chingi Sat Aug 25, 2012 4:00 pm

Hi, I'm still getting used to the calculator on the IR section of the CATs and am wondering how similar it is to the actual one we get during the test? My biggest issue is that I have the habit of pressing the backspace button when I misstype. Unfortunately on the Manhattan GMAT CATs this weird thing happens where it closes the calculator and either takes me to another tab in the same question or, worse, it takes me to the previous questions and I mess everything up. It's stressful! Thanks

Hi -

The calculator is very similar to the one that you'll see during the test. It was designed to work the same way as the calculator on the GMAT Prep software. However, as you point out, the back button taking you back one screen (or multiple depending on how many times it was pressed) is a function of the MGMAT test being delivered via the web.

We will take a look at it and resolve the back button issue so that it functions more like the actual test. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Best,
