MBA without a bachelors?

by 34watts Mon Jul 02, 2007 8:56 pm

This is probably a situation you have not heard often. I never finished college, but moved to New York and became quite successful working at international ad agencies and also in my entrepreneurial efforts. At 27, I have more than 7 years of experience working at top ad agencies, have managed international, world-renown brands and manage my own department of 10. I have also started several unique companies, one of which was featured in the WSJ.

If my GMAT score is competitive, and I take some current accounting and statistics classes (and perform well), is there any chance at all that an admissions board would find me unique enough to admit me despite a lack of undergraduate degree?

No.

It's a graduate degree, and just about every school I know has it as a prerequisite that you have a bachelors' degree before you can complete a masters'. This isn't a business school policy, but a university-wide policy.

Anyhow, there's always exceptions - there was a guy last year who got into HBS without a college degree. But he was Pres. George Bush's personal aide (who is himself an HBS alum).

So unless you have the President pulling for you, the answer is no.
