MBA/MPH

by nala.telon Fri May 18, 2012 9:50 pm

I'm currently a medical student who is seriously considering changing career paths. I've looked at MBA/MPH and it seems like something that i would enjoy doing (I know i have to be sure but I have JUST started looking into MBA programs). I'm having a hard time finding more info on the dual programs and their rankings.
I would really like to go to Haas but I dont really know my chances. I have a GPA of 3.8 with tons of volunteer and extra curricular activities. I have done some political stuff and worked 2.5 years at a well known medical institution. I'm planning to take the GMAT and hoping to score +700.
Do you think I stand a chance? should I work a bit more to gain more experience? I started as an entry level but was running a study with multiple volunteers.

Hi! What will be key to your application is how you explain to the AdCom why you need an MBA/MPH. Since you are in medical school right now, you will have to clearly lay out why you aren't going to stick with medicine and what you will get out of an MBA program. You also need to specifically define your career goals.

If you are able to give a compelling argument of why getting an MBA is right for you, that will help your candidacy significantly.

Best of luck,

Rachel Beck
