Marital Status/Significant Other Submitting Application

by hayleyjfarr Tue Sep 01, 2009 7:01 pm

Hello!

My significant other and I (not married) are applying to the same business school. On the application it asks:
1. Marital Status (single, married, divorced). We are not married, so I assume, we're single!
2. Is your significant other submitting an application (yes, no)?

Is there any advantage/disadvantage to noting that I/we are single, but that our significant other is applying as well? We both graduated (bachelor's degrees) from the institution to which we are both applying for MBA, if that makes any difference!

Thanks for the advice!

Hi Hayley -

I don't think it makes a significant difference, since your applications will be reviewed independently. It may be marginally helpful in reinforcing the school's sense that you are extremely committed to that institution, so I would include "yes" for question 2 and then if there's room list your partner's name and graduating class. For question 1, with those options, I think you have to select Single.

Best of luck.
