Manhattan Prep Books + OG 2019

by AaronH434 Tue Sep 11, 2018 8:50 pm

Hello, is there a guide for question types for OG 2019? I don’t see it as an option (resources only have up to 2018).

Hi! We have not yet switched our curriculum to OG2019—so these problems are not in Navigator and we do not yet have problem sets, etc, set up.

Also: we aren't planning to do this until 2019. On the quant side, the 2019 edition removed questions at all difficulty levels but the replacement questions were mostly of easier-to-medium difficulty. (In other words, the average difficulty of Q questions declined somewhat.) As such, we don't see a huge reason to switch the curriculum at the moment—we'd rather stick with OG2018 for now.

If you've already bought OG19, I don't think you need to go buy OG18—the difficulty level change was not that severe. It just isn't worth switching, if you already have OG18 (like we do).

Our Student Services department does have "conversion lists" (lists that show the OG19 --> OG18 equivalent problem numbers for the ones that stayed). You can send an email to gmat@manhattanprep.com to ask for the PDF OG conversion lists for Q and V. (Note: we only offer this for the big OG. We don't have it for the two supplemental books, Q-only and V-only.)

Hi Stacey-

Thank you for the update. I am wondering if a 2019 version will be made in order for those of us with the 2019 OG guide to complete the quizzes in the middle and end of each strategy guide. I am trying to keep up with these as part of my studying, and I do not have access to the 2018 OG guide. Thank you!

Hi! We are working on it right now but it's still going to be about 6 weeks until it's available. We're targeting an end-of-Feb launch (for everything—problem lists, quizzes, Navigator solutions, etc.).

In the meantime, you can ask our student services team (gmat@manhattanprep.com) for the "conversion lists"—these show the equivalent problem numbers for all problems that are in both guides. So, if you have access to the quizzes based on OG18 numbering, you would look up the problem number on the conversion list to see what it is in the OG19 guide. (Note: problems that were dropped from the OG19 edition won't have an equivalent number in OG19, of course—so just skip those problems in the assignments.)

As I mentioned in my last post, the launch date was planned for end of February. Everything will be live this coming Monday (Feb 25th).

Navigator solutions will be available for all new-to-OG19 problems on that date. All courses starting on or after Feb 25th will use OG2019. The OG problem sets list will be available on that date. Etc.

Note: If your particular course/program was based on OG18, though, then Atlas / your student center is still going to have the OG18 materials—you'll need to contact our student services team directly if you want to get the OG19 problem sets list.

Unfortunately, we don't support the supplemental guides in Navigator.

We did, once upon a time, have just the problems in there (not solutions—as it takes a really long time to make them), but then we got complaints that there were no solutions. So, since we don't have the bandwidth to produce the solutions, we decided just not to put the supplements in there at all, so that people weren't expecting solutions and then disappointed not to see them. In a perfect world, we'd have time to do solutions for everything (I'd love to do them for the official practice tests, too!), but there are just too many for us to keep up.

I hope the solutions for the main OG 2019 guide are useful for you!

We have no plans to do this, no. We don't use this book in our curriculum; Navigator only contains what we actually use in our curriculum. (It takes a *lot* of time to put an entire book into Nav. I wish we had endless time! But we don't. :) )
