Manhattan GMAT Scores Vs. Actual

by d.sutta Mon Jul 13, 2009 5:22 pm

I checked out this forum before when trying to gauge how accurate of a predictor Manhattan GMAT scores are when compared to the real thing - so i thought i'd contribute. I take the actual exam on Wednesday, and plan to take the 2nd GMAT from GMATprep tomorrow.

here are my scores:
MGMAT 1 - 680 - Q44, V38
MGMAT 2 - 740 Q47, V44
MGMAT 3 - 690 Q43, V40
MGMAT 4 - 680 Q46, V36
MGMAT 5 - 730 Q45, V45
MGMAT 6 - 740 Q47, V45

GMAT Prep1 - 750 Q49, V44
GMAT Prep2 - 720 Q44, V44
We'll see how the real thing goes, but all I want is a score around 700. Hopefully the MGAMT's and the GMAT prep are accurate indicators of what's to come.

Ended up with a 690 - Q 44, V 41. I was horribly nervous and had to pee during nearly the entire Verbal Section. I think that accounted for my lower verbal score. I am not thrilled with the score, but happy that it's over. It's close enough to what I wanted, so I will keep it.

I cant stress the importance of timing enough. I found myself running out of time in both sections.

Final update. I got a 6.0 on the AWA portion. Didn't study for a second for the essay, just applied some of the GMAT grammar rules from sentence correction

Nice job! Congrats and good luck with applications.

For others reading this, please DO NOT take a practice test within 3 days of the real thing (and, ideally, not within 5 days). All you're doing is tiring yourself out! You wouldn't run a practice marathon right before you run the real thing - so don't do it with the GMAT either!
