Manhattan CAT Math v. OG Math

by mark Mon Nov 12, 2012 9:16 pm

I just began taking the Manhattan CATs and I am finding that the math is significantly more time-consuming than that in the OG.

The number of errors is not insubstantial. Spending thirty minutes on a single math problem only to realize that the solution is incorrect can be frustrating, but irrespective, my main contention is that this is not representative.

Thus far I've only worked on CAT 1 and 2; is anyone's experience in the subsequent CATs different?

I'm going to tackle the Quant Review for a bit; perhaps I'll update afterwards to see if my opinion's changed.

CAT 2 Q3 - candy bars (DS)

by mark Mon Nov 12, 2012 9:24 pm

The suggested solution is B, however there are many instances in which N is even and D is not divisible by 3. For example, each "set" of adding $0.50 creates such a pair. If N = 6, D = 4.50, which is not divisible by 3. N is not odd.

if you want to complain about errors, you should probably post them so we can help other students. if you want to talk about a particular problem, you need to post the entire problem for the same reason..
