Low GPA High GMAT: am I still competitive?

by ericjhwang Mon Nov 26, 2012 5:40 pm

I have an undergrad gpa of 2.8 from USC and a gmat score of 750. My gpa is low in part to my having to work for my father during school. I come with a background in education that some have said makes me a unique candidate. Am I still somewhat competitive for a top 10 school?

Hello,

It's possible that your extraordinary GMAT score could compensate for your low GPA. I think you have a shot, but I would add some safeties to your list.

Best of luck,
Mili

Thank you! What schools or range of schools should I consider safety schools considering my gpa/gmat pair. Are my chances at a school like UCLA fairly good?

I would think so, but it probably wouldn't hurt to include something like USC, just in case.

Good luck!
