Letters of Recomedation

by mobenny Wed Jun 24, 2009 3:45 pm

I am planning to apply to B-School in the second round, which has a deadline in the begining of Jan 2009 for most schools. How early should I let the people that I plan to ask for letters of rec know that I am planning to apply and would appreciate that they write the letters for me?

Most schools have not yet released the applications for next year. However, should I start to ask?

Thanks,

Moses

Hi,

It is never too early to approach recommenders and ask them if they would consider writing your recommendation letters. However, if you are not applying until the second round with January deadlines, you do still have some time...

The recommendations in and of themselves take time. Further, you want to have ample opportunity to discuss your choice of schools, your goals and what you have discussed in your essays with your recommender(s). We also suggest that you discuss any particular experiences or character traits that you want them to highlight.

I hope this helps.
