Letter or Rec

by Guest Tue Oct 07, 2008 10:25 pm

I do not have a letter of recommendation from my current employer because I have only been at the job for nine months and do not feel comfortable asking them to help me with my application and leave soon after they hired me.

In my optional essay, how should I explain this? Can I state it as simply as I have only been at the job for nine months? Doesn't this kind of tell the adcom that I am skipping out on my employer and what's to stop me from doing the same at business school?

Is this common for applicants?

Thanks

Yes, simply disclose that you're getting a rec from a former employer because you've only been with your current employer for less than one year (and b-schools prefer seeing rec letters from people who've worked/supervised you for more than one year).
