Lack of Work Experience

by zzzm Tue Oct 27, 2009 12:02 am

I wrote the GMAT today and scored 710 (Q45 V41) second attempt

I have a 3.65 GPA and I am in my senior year of undergrad (management major)

However, I am lack any real world work experience.

How much will this hurt me with top 50 mba programs. I am not looking at Top15 programs because I feel the lack of experience almost automatically excludes me from consideration at those schools.

Could you specifically address my chances at either Penn State or the University of Pittsburgh?

Any feedback you can provide is greatly appreciated

Thank you for your time

Hi

We tend to have more experience with top 25 programs in the US and abroad; however, as it relates to your question about lack of work experience, most schools prefer candidates with at least some professional experience.

There are a few programs who will take applicants straight out of college or in a 2+2 format (i.e. you are accepted before graduating from college but work for 2 years before beginning your MBA). I would suggest doing a bit of research into the class profile for your targeted schools and contacting their admissions office if you need further info to get a sense of the respective policies.

I hope this helps.
