Investment Management & Case Study Method

by vlevin Fri Jun 25, 2010 9:39 am

Hello,

First and foremost, thank you for hosting this forum as it is very helpful.

My question is as follows: which schools tend to have the most recognition amongst investment management firms (traditional & alternative). I would guess HBS due to it's name brand and also potentially NYU or Columbia due to their location, but any others that you would guess?

Also, out of the top 20 - which schools are predominately case-method driven. I know of HBS, Darden & Fuqua but are there others I'm missing?

Thanks for your help, VL

Hi Vlevin,

Harvard and Darden are the two exclusive case method schools, but most schools use them to varying degrees. For example, both Tuck and Columbia are about 50% case method.

You named the major schools known for investment management programs, but graduates of other schools are certainly getting jobs in this field. An easy way to learn more is to go to the career services site for other schools you may be interested in and you can see which investment management firms have recruited on campus and how many people they've hired from recent classes.

Best of luck!
