Integrated Reasoning - Struggling!

by lidiap_yip Wed Jan 23, 2013 4:17 pm

Hi!

I am studying away for my test and have less than 7 days left. I have started doing IR drills and just can't seem to get any score higher than a 4 on a good day. I started doing the problems more slowly and realized that my problem is timing. If I spend about 4 minutes analyzing the data, I usually get the problem correct. Obviously this is not enough time to get through all the problems successfully.

Is it a "crazy" strategy to basically do 2 problems, skip 1 and so forth? I've done probably 45 problems so far and just can't seem to get better!

I don't think I should postpone my test on the basis of IR alone. I've scored fairly well on my last 3 exams.

Thanks!
Lidia

You can absolutely skip IR problems, yes. :)

Going on, know which of the types you like best and which are hardest for you. Also know whether you like the quant-focused or verbal-focused ones better. Skip 3 or 4 of the 12 questions - whichever you think are the hardest when you see them. That leaves you with 8 or 9 questions, or roughly between 3 and 4 minutes a question.

(Note: if you're pushing for a score of 5 or 6, skip 3 questions, not 4.)
