In 45 days, 640 to 700 possible?

by cojerc Tue May 21, 2013 1:32 am

Hi Stacey,

I scored 640 last week in real GMAT with split of Q 46 V 34, My weakness in Quant is careless mistake, which I feel can be fine tuned. My weakness in verbal is SC, learnt SC from the beginning in the wrong way, attempted to read the whole sentence of all choices. Now I am changing my approach to SC. RC & CR pretty good. So my question is, whether 45 days would be enough to improve my score from 640 to 700?

PS: Earlier I had timing issues, which I have corrected, now I am able to guess and move on. Only in SC I am taking more time due to my wrong approach.

I wish I could give you an answer, but it's really impossible for me to tell anyone how long it will take... there are just too many variables.

If you have a hard deadline in 45 days, then my best advice is to go for it, and just know that you might not get all the way there. You don't have a choice, if there's a school deadline, so you just have to take your best shot - as with anything in life!

If you don't have a hard deadline, then don't force yourself into a certain timeframe. You can have an idea in mind that you want to spend about 6 weeks or about 8 weeks, ideally, but be prepared to adjust if you find that your prep is taking longer than you anticipated. As a general rule, the higher you go, the harder it gets to go even higher.

You mention having issues with careless mistakes; have you seen this:

Good luck! :)
