how many is enough?

how many schools should I apply to given the competitive environment?

5 too many? too few?

Looking at what I think is a good spread

Stanford, Haas, Fuqua, Anderson, Kenan-Flagler.

Anyone applying to 2 or more of the schools I listed? Thanks.

A good number is around 5 - 6 schools -- 1 "stretch" school, 3-4 sweet spot schools, and 0-1 safety schools. Any more than that, and you risk diluting your efforts across too many schools (not to mention diluting the efforts of your recommenders who have to submit letters for so many schools).

If you choose the range and list of schools that you feel you'd fit in the most, then you should be able to get into some of them. A lot of it comes down to expectations and personal fit.
