How do I receive maximum benefit from attending an MBA Fair?

by afish13 Wed Sep 23, 2009 4:56 pm

Hello,

I’ll be attending The MBA Tour Admissions fair this weekend. I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to make the most out of my visit to the fair, including: networking (with admissions office) best practices, important questions to ask each program I’m interested in, topics I should be ready to discuss with admissions officers, and any other relevant advice.

Thank you!!

Thanks for the inquiry!

I think the best way to approach the MBA Tour is to think of it as a chance to learn, rather than a chance to impress. Your goal should be to get to know the programs, get a feel for the school, try to understand information that's not on the website - what the culture is like, those kinds of questions. The admissions officers will see so many candidates during the tour that it's rare for any to really stick out. If you approach it without feeling the pressure to impress (although of course you don't want to stand out as particularly UNimpressive either, so dress professionally and act appropriately of course), you'll probably be more receptive to absorbing information and learning about which program best suits you and why.

Good luck,
