High Verbal/Low Quant - Should I Retake

by CAMBA Tue Aug 05, 2014 2:13 pm

Hi! I recently took the GMAT and scored a 710 with a 44 (98%) on verbal, a 43 (56%). Should I retake to boost my verbal?

Hi there,

Thanks for posting. Congrats on the solid overall score. I can see your dilemma and you are right on that border of whether you need to re-take or not. My initial thought is, if you have the time and resources and this was your first attempt, there's not much to lose by trying once more just in case, and working on some quant between now and then. Schools take the highest score and it's fairly common to take it more than once.

It will help that you've demonstrated quantitative ability elsewhere, for sure, but that said getting past at least say 60th percentile in quant helps.

But really depends upon your time and energy and priorities at this point.

Let us know what other q's you have and good luck!
