i have a question here.

The number of people flying first class on domestic flights rose sharply in 1990, doubling the increase of the the previous year.

b. doubling that of the increase in

i wonder what "that" means in answer B? I THINK "of people flying first class on domestic flights" ARE ALL MODIFIERS in the first part of sentence"? so why B is wrong?

thanks.

i have no idea what is going on in this thread.

it appears that you are attempting to respond to an existing thread, but are starting a new thread by accident.

i'm going to lock this thread; please post your question on the actual thread to which you are responding. (to do this, press "reply" on the thread.) thanks.
