I have a 3.09 in Chemical Engineering from Purdue. (BSChe).

Is this considered low and does it warrant an explanation in the optional essay?

Thank you for your inquiry.

In the case of some engineers, a low GPA may still place them at the top of their respective classes. If you had a strong class rank or if your grades were considered to be strong at a 3.09, it is worth explaining to the AdCom.
