GMATPrep Software Scoring Error?

by anguyen2107 Sat Nov 17, 2012 6:03 am

Is it possible to miss between 9-12 questions on the verbal section and get a raw score of 31-32?

GMATPREP Test 1: V32 (-3 SC; -4 CR; -2 RC)
GMATPREP Test 2: V31 (-2 SC; -6 CR; -4 RC)

I thought that the verbal questions i received were pretty hard (i realize this could be subjective), so i don't understand why missing 9-12 questions would give me a 31-32 raw score. I am two weeks out from taking the actual exam, so I'd hate to waste time experimenting with the software to determine the root cause of the problem.

I suspect the latest software (v2.1.279) that I downloaded online is defective, although my math raw score seems to be correct.

Thanks

please understand that NONE of the time you spend worrying about the GMAT's algorithm will be productive. you should concentrate instead on doing the best you can, and trust that the millions of dollars the GMAT has spent to perfect its process are all designed to ensure that you are given a score that accurately reflects your skill level, as long as you are doing your best and not trying to game the system..

Thanks Tim. I ended up taking just the verbal section and missed 16 but got a V34.

When I missed 9 and got V32, i was probably doing easier questions--this is exactly what i wanted to confirm since I thought i was answering hard questions.

Thanks again...I have some work to do on verbal.
