How long does it take to study for the GMAT? - what is the duration & focus...and also, is it advisable to have coachingclasses?

Most people study for about 2 to 4 months. It depends on the score that you want to get and how far you are from that score when you start - so some people might not need to study so long and others might need 6 months or longer.

In terms of whether to take classes - you're asking the question of someone who teaches these classes, so I'm biased. :) I encourage you to do some research into what it takes to study for the GMAT and decide what kind of plan you think will work best for you.
