GMAT 700 - 4th Try

by groundandpound99 Wed Jul 06, 2011 9:32 am

Dear Sir,

Sorry for the double post--i'm posting this on behalf of my friend as he's unable to register on the forum.

Situation: My friend took the GMAT 4 times, scoring 650, 660, 690, and 700 the 4th time (Q50, V34).

Would Harvard (which requires candidates to disclose the number of times they've taken the GMAT) look at his application any differently given that he's repeated the GMAT 4 times to achieve 700 score? e.g., Would it reduce his chances to get an interview/ get admitted.

Thank you.

Hi there,

On behalf your friend, thanks for writing in. Traditionally the schools will look at your highest score; the impact of asking how many times you took the test is a bit unknown. Still , at this point, your friend has already taken the test the 4th time and shown improvement, so he'll want to report his highest score. It's impact on admissions/interviews is really impossible to say -- as this will be one factor weighed in with the rest of his application.

Good luck to your friend!
