Geometry Strategic Guide Problems

by r.jagannathan6 Fri Mar 08, 2013 9:45 pm

I have 2 questions from the Geometry Strategic Guides Problem sets.

Problem Set #5 Questions:

On the number line Above, is xy>0?

(1) Zero is to the left of Y on the number line above.
(2) xy and yz have opposite signs.

Can you please explain on why statement 2 is insufficient?

I read through the answers but could nt get a satisfactory explanation there.

Similarly , On Problem 9 in the Problem set.

Line L passes through points R(0,-5) and S(4,0). Point P with coordinates(x,y) is a point on Line L . Is XY > 0

(1) X > 4

2) Y> -5

Can you please explain on why statement 2 is insufficient?

hi,
this is the wrong folder for this post; please re-post your question(s) in the appropriate folder.
If these are questions about the MGMAT math strategy guides, then these questions belong in the "MGMAT non-CAT math" folder.

thanks!
