Geometry chap.2#8 - The size of a square computer screen...

by Guest Sun Jun 22, 2008 4:54 pm

is measured by the length of tis diagonal. How much bigger is the visible area of a square 24-inch screen than the area of a square 20 inch screen.

In reading the solution, I really don't get how the 24 & 20 inch screens become the lenght of the diagonal when the question clearly (in my mind) reads as being the area of both screens...

Can someone please clarify?

Thanks

hi there,
The question says that the size of the computer is measured by the length of its diagonal, there when they say that a 24 inch screen or a 20 inch screen they are giving u the size of the monitor which is measure by the length of its diogonal, there when anytime they give the size effectively they are giving you th length of the diagnal.
hope that helps
