Foreign citizen, US permanent resident - international?

by james.ogara84 Mon Nov 09, 2009 5:54 pm

Hi there - I'm an Irish citizen but have lived in the US for the last 11 years, completing most of high school and all of undergrad here. My work experience is exclusively in the US. I'm currently a US permanent resident (green card holder) but am now eligible to apply for citizenship.

Do you know if top US MBA programs will view me as a domestic or international applicant, i.e. is it the current residence or citizenship that counts? Will it matter?

Prior to moving to the US I lived in Ireland, Kenya, Mozambique and the Philippines, so I'm already planning on emphasizing my international experience in the applications.

Thanks,

James

Hello James,

That is an interesting question. I believe that they would likley view you as an international candidate since you are an Irish citizen, albeit one with extensive experience in the United States.

Sincerely,

Akiba Smith-Francis
