Fifty days away from the test,I am stuck between 400 and 450

by siva1104 Thu Jun 20, 2013 2:01 pm

Hi,
I am in need advice and help. This is just a brief of where I am now.
I have worked the OG13 Quants, SC and CR. I am working on RC.I have taken Economist tutor's practice test, Hult GMAT practice test and a 800scorer's practice. Before all this I took the Diagnostic test in OG 13. But my average score is 400. My maximum score in Quants in 33 and in verbal is 23.
My weakness :
1) Time management - I am unable to complete my test and I am doing guess work for the last 6 to 10 questions.
2)Data Sufficiency - I am unable to improve myself in this. Please help me with strategies and tips.
I am in a very frustrated state because I am stuck up with this score and I unable to move on. Please guide how to move on. My test falls on Aug 17,2013.

What materials are you using to study? Not to practice, to study - you can't study very efficiently by doing practice problems. What materials are you using that teach you how to take the test?

First, read this:
https://www.manhattangmat.com/blog/inde ... lly-tests/

That will help you set the appropriate mindset for your study.

Next, read this:
http://www.manhattangmat.com/blog/index ... -the-gmat/

Look at the Time Management and How to Study sections.

What materials are you using now for Data Sufficiency? This is an introduction:
http://www.manhattangmat.com/blog/index ... ncy-works/
http://www.manhattangmat.com/blog/index ... questions/

But our books go into a lot more detail.

Finally, you don't mention what goal score you want, but you do mention that you already have a test date. It's fine to have an idea in mind of when you'd like to take the test if everything works out, but don't pick a specific test date 2+ months out. That just adds pressure.

You're going to do what you need to do, and if that works out to mid-August, fine - but if you need more time, then you can give yourself more time. Don't make it even harder on yourself by locking into a specific date so far in advance, when nobody can be sure when they'll be ready!
