FDP Chapter 2 Question 9

by taravogl Sun Jun 19, 2011 7:58 pm

Is there a more detailed solution to FDP Chapter 2 , Question 9? I didn't find the one in the strategy guide thorough enough. Please advise.

Thanks!

Hi Tara!

Step 1: Rewrite the problem this way:
12ab^3 minus
3ab

6a^2b
3ab

Now, can you cross cancel common terms out of each? I see that on the top and bottom of each of these two I have a factor of 3, an "a", and a "b". See if you can cross cancel and let me know if you need more help.
