Exam Questions Breakdown

by shuo.zhang.us Wed Jun 27, 2012 4:56 pm

I noticed that on CAT exams, the consistent breakdown for each question type is as follows:

Quant: 22 PS / 15 DS
Verbal: 15 SC / 14 CR / 12 RC

However, the GMAT Prep exams consistently had the following breakdown:

Quant: 20 PS / 17 DS
Verbal: 17 SC / 11 CR / 13 RC

Which of the above breakdowns does the actual exam follow? The reason I ask is, our timing strategy changes when there's more SC questions, and some areas (i.e., DS) will be weaker for students.

There isn't a 100% guaranteed consistent breakdown - the real test can have a small amount of variability introduced by experimental questions.

It'll be in that rough range, though.
