Each year companies in the united States could save as

by ivonnecy Sat Oct 19, 2013 9:44 pm

Each year companies in the United States could save as much as $58 billion annually by preventing illness among employees and gain as much as $200 billion through improving performance of workers if they simply provided offices with cleaner air.
  (A) annually by preventing illness among employees and gain as much as $200 billion through improving performance of workers if they simply provided
  (B) annually if they prevented employee illness and gain as much as $200 billion through worker performance improved by simply providing
  (C) annually in employee illness prevention and gain as much as $200 billion through worker performance improved by simply providing
  (D) in employee illness prevention and gain as much as $200 billion through improving performance of workers if they simply provided
  (E) by preventing illness among employees and gain as much as $200 billion through improved worker performance if they simply provided

OA is E
I suppose that in A,B and C, "annually" repeats the meaning of "each year" at the start so they are redundant. Am I right?

I don't know why D is wrong, though I can feel that E is more parallel since it goes as "save...by.... and gain....through"
Will GMAC think "in employee illness prevention" awkward or nonsensical? Is it reason that D should be thrown away?
correct me plz.

If you're not a native speaker of English, forget about "awkward". It's almost impossible to discern what is "awkward" if you have not known the language since you were a small child. (This is why GMAC does not test "awkwardness" on this exam.)

--

It's nonsense, because "$xxxx in yyyyy" would mean that yyyy is something that can actually be measured in dollars.
E.g.,
By driving a hybrid car, I will save thousands of dollars in fuel costs.
Your business can save over $10,000 per month in shipping costs by using XYZ Courier Service.

I have a question about the usage of improved, I think improving is better, as it could parallel with the preventing?
