DS Advance GMAT Quant--

by hershpuri18885 Tue Feb 26, 2013 3:25 am

if a is not equal to 0. 1/a>a/b4(Power4)+3?
1. a2=b2
2. a2=b4

We have to cross multiply... rephrazing it makes the question---
is a positive?? If a is negative then then the sign flips from > to <.

1. a2=b2
The book says that this statement is sufficient...
b2 is positive, so a is positive... (How-- ?)...i think that i am missing something really silly out here..

b4+3= (b2+ root3)(b2-root3)> a2

2. b4=a2-- insuff...
I get this...

we need you to give us a more precise source on this problem, because there are problems with the way you typeset it that make it difficult to tell what's going on..

I've attached the problem below, and yes, you did miss something simple here... you misread the statement:

1) a = b^2

NOT a^2 = b^2

Since b^2 must be positive, then a must be positive.
