Does Harvard Accept Multiple GMAT attempt application?

by umaa.spk Sun Nov 15, 2009 10:56 pm

I have heard from one test prep company that Harvard and Stanford are not accepting multiple GMAT attempt students. Is it really true? Please let us know.

Hello,

I am not sure what you mean by Harvard and Stanford not accepting multiple GMAT attempt students. My guess is that you mean that the claim is that all students who have taken the GMAT more than once will automatically be rejected by HBS and Stanford. This is the case. Both schools consider applicants who have taken the GMAT more than once. I hope that eases any concerns you may have.

Hi,

If we take the GMAT 3 times and show significant improvement in each, do I stand to tarnish my application at these two schools in any way?

for e.g if my scores are 570 - 650 - 700+ .. then does it lessen my chances in any way?

Also, in general, how many attempts at GMAT are considered within the safe zone?

Drop in a line

Hello Jigar,

Taking the GMAT three times is fine, especially if your score increases significantly each time, which it seems to have done. Increasing your score each time is a good thing, not a bad thing! I’d say three times is probably the most you want to take the GMAT. Taking the test four or five times might be considered too much, especially if your score does not improve each time. If the Admissions Committees see roughly the same score four or five times, they might start believe that this is probably the best you are able to do. Good luck with the test!

Sincerely,
