by Varun Tue Aug 12, 2008 6:51 pm

Hi,

What scores do i send while applying to B-Schools?My university (Viveswaraya Tech University)does not have a grading system.Would my marksheets be sufficient to apply? How do i go about calculating my GPA if my university does not offer a grading system?

awaiting your response :o

Thank you for your inquiry.

Most schools have a conversion table where they instruct you as to how to convert grades. If they don’t you should contact their admissions office and ask them directly about how to do so. If your grades need some normalizing, for example some candidates can be at the top of their classes with a 60% grade, then you should make sure to illustrate this discrepancy between your translated grades and your class rank via your optional essay.

Clarification about normalizing GPA

by GPA Sat Aug 16, 2008 8:22 pm

Jeremy,

I have a question on your earlier post. When you said - contact the school's admissions office - did you mean the school which we are applying to or the school whose score needs to be converted?

My problem (like the previous poster) is that I graduated from an Indian University and am now in States. It will take an act of god to have someone from the Indian University to provide this information either via email or a phone call. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Varun

What would "send your transcripts/marksheets" mean

by Varun Sat Aug 16, 2008 10:33 pm

Hi,

On various forums it has been suggested that i will have to send my marksheets and transcripts to admissions office and they will do the necessary conversions.I do have marksheets but what does transcripts mean?Secondly, what do top business schools(Harvard,Stanford,Wharton etc...) accept?scanned marksheets/transcripts or is it that we have to send them the xerox copies by post?

Thanks for the response to my previous post.Awaiting your reply again :-)

Thank you for your post.

You would contact the school to which you are applying to understand how they would convert their grades.
